My interest in Tarot cards go back more than 30 years. Yet, even when I followed guides and lay down a spread, I understood NOTHING!
Yes, I had a book in front of me, telling me what each card meant, but connecting the dots? No. Just no.
Today, I do readings with confidence and I credit that to two things:
It was like having a dirty curtain ripped away from blocking the path between me and a bright clearing in the forest. Finally, I got what it was all about, and now Tarot is helping me every time I’m in doubt or just want a little guidance or insight.
My husband back then noticed my interest in Tarot cards and gave me a book about it and a Tarot deck.
I read the book and then I wanted to try out what I’d learned with the cards he’d given me.
He told me he chose the deck because it was the most expensive and pretty among the choices he could find at the book store.
Imagine my surprise when I found that… these cards were different.
Normal Tarot decks contain the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcane are divided into four sets:
Yeah, well, not the Thoth Tarot deck. That confused me from the start. How was I supposed to make any sense out of this?

I kept coming back to my interest in Tarot cards.
This time I wanted to make my own choice. I read more books and they all told me to find a deck I related to and get that.
So, I trawled blogs and shops and looked at all kinds of decks. Some were plain ugly in my opinion. Others were nice, but they all lacked something.
A lot of people liked the Marseille cards. At one point, I got a deck for free, but I never liked them.
Others swore to the Rider-Waite deck, but I didn’t get that either. They weren’t even pretty, I thought back then. Just ordinary and in many aspects looked like the Marseille cards.
That’s when I discovered the Shadowscapes Tarot deck and fell in love.
Ordering from Amazon is not that easy where I live. The delivery will sometimes be at the other end of town and I have no car. Or, if I’m lucky and the delivery man delivers them, then he cannot find the address. Yeah, living in a very old town has its downsides.
So, I had these cards on my wish list for a couple of years before I ordered them.
They are truly beautiful! I love the colors, the symbols, the amazing paintings… Their size could have been bigger and easier to see… but overall, I loved them. Still do.
Yet, I rarely use them.
I was still unable to understand what their meaning was without looking it up in the accompanying booklet. And if I had more than one card in a spread, I was lost.
Even today, I only use these cards from time to time because they are so pretty, but I need to get more experienced with Tarot reading first, I think. If you love them, you can find them on Amazon.
I don’t remember how I found this book. Amazon probably showed it to me while I was browsing their site. Or I got an email with the recommendation.
I do know, though, that finding it changed my life! For the better.
For the first time in my life, this just clicked. I did not need to learn all cards by heart. I did not have to look every one of them up in a book.
Even when I made spreads, I understood the connection between the cards. After some training, my readings became more accurate and it gave me insights I have never gotten before.
I highly recommend this book. It will make your Tarot life much more interesting, easy and fun.
This deck has already given me so many answers and given me insights I otherwise wouldn’t have been aware of.
Right, I just told you that I found the Rider-Waite deck ordinary and boring. But that was before I learned to read Tarot the intuitive way.
Suddenly, what was hidden before became clear. Every card had meaning. Every detail on the card had a meaning.
Sure, you can use the official one that will tell you that a lily on a card means a pure mind, but the best tool is your own intuition. Use the symbols seen through your eyes. What does a white lily mean to you?
Thanks to how clean these cards are, it’s easy to catch the symbols. And yet, you’ll find new ones every time you look at a card. That’s great. The ones you missed the first time, may not have meant anything to you at that time. Now they do.
I use these cards every day and yet, they are still as new. I love that they came with a metal box I can keep them in.
Like my other cards, I wish they were bigger… But okay, this just makes me lean in closer to study the cards I draw.
I ordered this suit January 2, 2024, so I’ve had them for a year and look how nice they look, thanks to the metal box:
And every morning, I start my day by shuffling the cards and asking this question:
What do I need to learn today?
I save the card I picked and my interpretation in a Tarot journal and then during the day, I look out for signs of what I found. At the end of the day or the following day, I will read about the card again and see how it fit my day.
